
The Texas County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a man after he reportedly fled police on March 4, 2022.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, Texas County Deputies received a report of a person driving a green Ford Mustang that had fled from a Licking Police Department officer and later, Dent County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Texas County authorities observed the Mustang near the intersection of Route AB and Route VV and attempted to make a traffic stop.
The driver of the Mustang failed to yield, and deputies initiated a pursuit.
Police chased the Mustang down several county roads and then continued onto Route V.
While traveling east of Route V, the driver of the Mustang struck one of the deputy’s patrol vehicles and intentionally tried to force the vehicle off of the roadway.
Another deputy initiated a PIT maneuver and forced the vehicle into a ditch.
Deputies took 24-year-old Tyler G. Sims of Licking, MO into custody without further incident.
According to the release, Sims was already on probation for resisting arrest.
He faces charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing, and driving while suspended/revoked.
Sims is being held in the Texas County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
The release states charges are mere accusations and are not evidence. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
