
On Thursday, the Missouri Senate passed the long-awaited congressional district’s map by a vote of 22 to 10. The upper body worked into the late hours of the night discussing a number of topics before taking a seven-hour recess. One of the topics included redistricting. After months of deliberation, the Senate finally came to a consensus. RepublicanAndrew Koenig produced a map that has garnered bipartisan support. The Senate Minority Leader, John Rizzo who voted for the map recognizes the difficulty of redrawing district lines.
If this version is approved by the Missouri House it will go into immediate effect pending a signature from Governor Parson. This would affect candidates filing for the August primary. The filing deadline ends Tuesday.
