A Sparta woman was injured in a Douglas County crash on Friday.
Crash reports show a 2016 Honda Civic, driven by 19-year-old Kateryn Omelchuk of Sparta, was traveling eastbound on Highway 14 – nine miles west of Ava, when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve due to excessive speed, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch, and a fence.
Omelchuk was moderately injured after the crash and was taken by ambulance to the Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.
