Three arrested after police find drugs, four decomposing animals

The Evening Shade Police Department reports the arrest of three people on Sunday. 

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, on April 3, Officers with the Evening Shade Police Department and Deputies with the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at the residence of James and Vanessa Rowan in Evening Shade. 

Officers had conducted an investigation into drug activity coming from the residence over several months. 

Three adults and one juvenile were residing in the residence when the warrant was served. 

The three adults were identified to be Jaem Rowan, Vanessa Rowan, and Kenna Fitzgerald. 

A search of the property discovered a large amount of various methamphetamine-related drug paraphernalia, 11.3 grams of liquid methamphetamine, a firearm, marijuana-related paraphernalia, marijuana, and unidentified pills. 

While serving the warrant, officers also found four deceased animals in cages that were in different stages of decomposing, along with what appeared to be raw sewage coming from the residence into the backyard. 

The three adults were transported to the Sharp County Jail. 

All three are charged with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, felony maintaining a drug premise, felony continuing criminal enterprise, felony endangering the welfare of a minor, and four counts of animal cruelty.
