The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for child abduction.
An investigation began on May 16, which resulted in 37-year-old Zachary Nelms of Ava, MO, being arrested on May 26.
Nelms was arrested in Stone County after a joint investigation between multiple agencies that began in Douglas County.
He is charged with felony child abduction.
His bond was set at $15,000 cash only.
Sheriff Degase would like to thank the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Taney County Sheriff’s Office, Stone County Sheriff’s Office, and the Children’s Division for their assistance in the case.
Douglas County authorities emphasized that all suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
