Highway Patrol to increase presence due to increase in fatal crashes

Since the middle of May, fatal accidents have occurred more than usual.

While the Missouri State Highway Patrol notes fatalities are lower than last year, multiple crashes in the past two months have turned fatal.

I spoke to Troop G Public Information Officer Sgt. Eddie Young.

He says as traffic and crash numbers increase, the Patrol will increase its enforcement.

Another issue this year is drivers operating a vehicle while under the influence.

Sgt. Young says Troopers are looking for drivers that could be impaired, especially those operating off-road equipment.

Sgt. Young also pushed for everyone to wear their seatbelt as traffic numbers increase for the summertime.
