
After a two-hour, 37-minute rain delay, the Cardinals got home runs from rookies Juan Yepez and Conner Capel to pull their team out of the muck but not far enough to avoid a 6-3 loss late Monday night at Trust Park. The Braves, still rolling from one of the best Junes in club history, stormed to a six-run lead at the end of the second inning by capitalizing on all that Cardinals starter Dakota Hudson offered. Hudson hit a batter, walked a batter with the bases loaded, and let the game slither from his fingers like a half-filled water balloon. Or a sinker.
