St. Louis scored 6 runs in the first inning and added 4 more in the 3rd then cruised to the win, wrapping up a road trip that saw them win 5 of 6 games. Carpenters 4 doubles tied the MLB and Cardinals team record. Last Cardinal to do it was Ducky Medwick in the 1930’s.
With an off day today, the Cards are currently 4 games behind Chicago in the NL Central division race, and stand in the #1 Wild Card spot.
The Redbirds return home to play Pittsburgh Tuesday night.
