Five people were injured, two of them seriously in a two-vehicle accident Friday night east of Mountain View. According to the Highway Patrol report, 59-year-old Steven Prediger of Mountain View and a 17-year-old boy from Birch Tree both suffered serious injuries, 67 years Deborah Mattes of Birch Tree, 28-year-old Maria Pinzon Martinez, and 32 year old Carlos Valdez Ruiz both from Briston Illinois, all suffered only minor injuries. The accident happened when Mattes failed to yield to the vehicle driven by Martinez. The accident happened on U.S. 60, three miles east of Mountain View. The juvenile was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield and Prediger was taken to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.
