COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri football junior Harrison Mevis is among the 30 kickers named to the 2022 Lou Groza Award Watch List, released by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission on Wednesday.
A Groza semifinalist in both 2021 and 2020, Mevis enters his third season as arguably the nation’s top kicker. His 19 field goals from at least 30 yards last year are the most by a returning kicker, as are the 14 of those that came from at least 40 yards out. His 88.9% career accuracy rate is the best by an active kicker with at least 40 career attempts.
A 2022 Phil Steele Preseason All-American (second team), Mevis was a 2021 first-team All-America selection by four media outlets and a named to first-team All-SEC by three outlets a year ago. He is one of three multi-year Groza semifinalists recognized ahead of the 2022 season.
Mizzou will open the 2022 season on Thursday, September 1 at Faurot Field, playing host to Louisiana Tech.
