56-year-old Mary Brown of Ava and a 17-year-old boy from Cabool both suffered serious injuries and 48-year-old Julie Mitchum of Ava suffered moderate injuries in the accident. The MSHP reports that Brown drove off the road, overcorrected, and struck the vehicle that 35-year-old David Miller of Cabool was driving. Both the juvenile and Brown were flown to Springfield Hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Mitchum was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The accident happened on Highway 14, nine miles northwest of Ava.
