
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a West Plains man for stealing fuel. Tuesday, deputies, answered a call for service in reference to a suspicious person standing next to Pace Construction’s equipment and trucks on U.S. Highway 160 near Genesis church. Howell County Deputies arrived in the area and observed a black Dodge truck parked near a Pace Construction truck and a male subject standing near the truck. They observed the male in possession of a 5-gallon gas can and noticed the strong smell of diesel fuel in the area of the trucks. Upon closer inspection, they saw the fuel cap to have been removed from the Pace Construction truck, a yellow hose on the ground nearby, and an area of spilled diesel fuel on the ground near the fuel tank and hose. Deputies arrested Jared Simpson of West Plains for stealing. Simpson was transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center where he was booked, issued a citation for stealing, and released. He is to be in court on December 5, 2022.
