A man from Dent County has been sentenced to life in prison for starving his adopted daughter to death. Randall Abney was charged with second-degree murder and neglect of a child. His wife Susan Abney was also charged and was sentenced in October, to life in prison. In October 2020, Authorities responded to a home and found 10-year-old Josie Ann who weighed about 39 pounds, a 10-year-old typically weighs around 70 pounds. Investigator found a lock on the refrigerator and food was allegedly kept out of the girls reach.
