A Public meeting will be held this Friday at the Carter County Courthouse in Van Buren. The meeting is to discuss the voluntary residential flood buyout.  The Buyout includes assistance like relocation expenses and down payment assistance for those who qualify. The county is interested in obtaining citizen input on the existing buyout zone and discussing eligibility, available assistance, the application process, and other needs related to the April and May 2017 flooding events within the county.

At least 70% of the funds will be used to benefit low to moderate-income persons. Due to the nature of a buyout, displacement of persons will be proposed.

The meeting begins at 9:30 Friday morning.
