
Authorities say 50-year-old Fred Michael Mixon who lives in Stone County called the Faulkner County Sheriff and told him about the shooting and said he wanted to turn himself into someone he knew. Stone County Sheriff’s Office was notified and responded to the scene along with the Faulkner County Sheriff to see if he could assist. Mixon surrendered to the Faulkner County Sheriff and was in possession of a loaded .45 caliber pistol. Mixon is accused of the murder of 57-year-old Leslie Jo Mixon whose body was found in a shop building with an apparent gunshot wound to the face. A 12 gauge shotgun believed to be the murder weapon was also found in the shop along with spent shell casings. Mixon is charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.
