A Birch Tree man has been arrested on rape charges. Scott McCarty is accused of raping a 9 year old girl last year in Howell County. Investigators say the little girls told them that McCarty forcibly raped her and slapped her across the face when she refused to do other acts. McCarty is charged with first degree rape, sodomy and endangering the welfare of a child. We was arrested yesterday in Shannon County.
