
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Razorbacks are the 2023 SEC champions.
Despite a 7-6 loss in the series finale against No. 12 Vanderbilt (37-17, 20-11 SEC), No. 2 Arkansas (39-15, 20-10 SEC) secured its fourth regular-season SEC championship on Saturday afternoon at Hawkins Field. The Razorbacks split the title with No. 4 Florida (42-13, 20-10 SEC) after both teams finished the season with an SEC-leading 20 wins.
Arkansas is the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament and will play its first game on Wednesday at The Hoover Met.
AUBURN, Ala. – No. 19 Auburn overcame a three-run deficit by scoring five times in the bottom of the eighth to pull out a 9-7 decision over Missouri to lock up a Southeastern Conference series sweep of the Tigers Saturday afternoon at Plainsman Park.
The Tigers earned the No. 12 seed in the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala., and will play the final game of the event’s opening day on Tuesday (May 23).
JONESBORO, Ark. (5/20/23) – Blake Burris reached base in all six of his plate appearances on Saturday afternoon, helping the Arkansas State baseball team oust South Alabama 18-11 to complete the series sweep.
The Red Wolves finished the season with a 20-31 overall mark, going 9-19 in league play, while the Jaguars ended with 23-31 and 11-19 marks. A-State earned its first series sweep over South Alabama since 2012.
SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State fell in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader with ninth-ranked Indiana State to close out the regular season at Hammons Field.
In game 1, The Bears fell behind 8-1 and came within inches of the go-ahead home run in the eighth before falling 9-5.
In Game 2, The Bears lost to the Sycamores 14-4.
The Bears finished second in the standings at 18-9 in the MVC and 31-21 overall.
