On August 26, 2023, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, MJTF, Wright County SOG, and Texas County Sheriff’s Office began a manhunt for wanted fugitive Dalton Hall who had a warrant out of Douglas County for 3 counts of 2nd Degre Burglary and one count of Felony Property Damage and a warrant out of Wright County for Burglary. The manhunt began after Sheriff Degase and Wright County Investigator Kristi Akers received information about the possible whereabouts of Hall in Texas County.
A search in Texas County was unsuccessful when Sheriff Degase received a second call that led the Deputies to a residence north of Gentryville in Douglas County where authorities located Hall and a female Marianne Preece in an abandoned house. There was a short standoff and when Deputies confronted Hall he resisted arrest and was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Preece was taken into custody as she had been warned by Sheriff Degase on August 20, 2023, that if she assisted Hall, she would face criminal charges.
Preece was placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. Hall was booked on his Douglas County warrant with a bond of $50,000 cash only. Sheriff Degase and Deputies are working on additional charges related to numerous burglaries by the duo.
Sheriff Degase would like to thank the MJTF, Wright County SOG, Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, Mtn. Grove PD and the Howell County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance on this case. Well over 200-man hours went into locating and apprehending Hall who was hunted by Sheriff Degase and Deputies for over a week as Hall continued to victimize the residents of Douglas County. Sheriff Degase commends the tenacity of his Deputies who continued to follow up on leads that came in. “Hopefully the residents of Vanzant can sleep better at night with Hall behind bars.
