
On 08/30/23, 911 dispatch received a call from an address in Tecumseh about a domestic disturbance. While on the call a total of 10 shots were heard over the phone. One of the parties stated a family member was shot in the head by another family member.
The suspect, Samuel Deatherage Jr was disarmed and held by family members until deputies arrived. He was detained and deputies performed first aid on the individual with the gunshot wound.
An investigation revealed Samuel Deatherage Jr was intoxicated and got into a verbal argument. This led to him arming himself with a Draco AK-47 style pistol. He chased 7 victims (including 3 children) into the backyard and fired at them with the firearm between 10-15 times. One of the bullets passed through the windshield of a vehicle parked in the yard. One of the victims was hiding behind the vehicle and was struck in the head by the bullet.
The victim survived and was transported to the hospital by Life Call.
Samuel Deatherage Jr was arrested and booked into jail. A warrant was issued for Assault 1st Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child x3, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Armed Criminal Action. He is currently being held without bond.
On 08/25/23, Deputies conducted a warrant service for Dewayne Allen at his residence in Isabella for his active felony warrant. He was located, arrested, and booked into jail.
On 08/28/23, Deputy Lane and Sergeant Miller conducted a warrant service for Kenneth Cowart for a felony warrant. They located, arrested, and booked him into jail.
