The Highway Patrol reports that 39-year-old Jeffery Barry suffered serious injuries when a car driven by 34-year-old Brittany Escobedo of Mansfield turned into the path of the vehicle that Barry was driving, causing him to travel off the road and overturn. Bary was flown to Cox South in Springfield. Escobedo was charged with DWI resulting in serious physical injury, three counts of assault, 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and careless and imprudent driving. She was taken to the Douglas County jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.. the accident happened on Highway 76, twelve miles east of Ava.
