The Sunset Suites Motel south of Hardy on US 63 is a total loss due to yesterday’s morning fire. Several departments worked together to battle the blaze that was reported about 8:30 AM Wednesday. Due to the attic being continuous over all the building, fighting the blaze was difficult as it was already engulfed when the first departments arrived. A second issue was not having water hydrants available so water had to be brought in by tanker trucks. The main concern became preventing the fire from spreading to other nearby structures, which the firefighters did accomplish. They battled the blaze for several hours. No injuries were reported.
