An accident Wednesday afternoon in Birch Tree left a Springfield man with series injuries. The Highway Patrol reports that 23 year old Bryon Heard was injured when he hit the rear of a Freightliner trailer with his vehicle becoming lodged underneath the trailer. The accident happened on U.S 60 at the intersection of Rt 99. Heard was flown to University Hospital in Columbia.
