
Fifty-three percent of Arkansans who graduated in 2018 have student-loan debt, and state officials say it’s important to read the fine print and be cautious of scammers trying to take advantage of unsuspecting victims as college students gear up for the start of the school year. Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge says most borrowers in the state owe an average of more than 30-thousand dollars. She says resources such as the National Student Loan Data System can help individuals understand the loans.
Rutledge notes that every loan is different and some offer the chance to change payment options based on your income rather than a set monthly amount
