Drowning reported on Current River in Carter County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting a man drowned on the Current River near Shote Hole Township in Carter County on Monday.  

38-year-old Edgar Sacach of Memphis was attempting to swim across the river when he went under the water and it was stated he never resurfaced. 

Searchers found Sacach’s body in a shallow area downstream. 

He was taken to the Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
