Arkansas breaks 1,000 hospitalizations, Missouri reports rise in COVID-19 cases

The Arkansas Department of Health reported 2,052 cases on Tuesday. 

The state broke 1,000 total hospitalizations on Tuesday, adding an additional 45. 

33 more people were placed on ventilators. 

10 additional Arkansans lost their lives yesterday from COVID-19. 

Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home said in a press release that the hospital has surpassed its record of patients for the virus which was at 34. 

They are now reporting 43. 

10 of those patients are in the ICU, and 9 are on ventilators. 

The hospital also added in the release that 30 Baxter Regional employees are at home and in isolation. 

Since March of 2021, 89.3% of virus patients admitted to the hospital have not been vaccinated, the county is reporting a vaccination rate of 33.5%, and there are 423 active cases of coronavirus in the county. 

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is reporting 1,777 new cases of COVID-19 in the state. 64 more Missourians have died at the hands of the virus. 

Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains posted to social media yesterday that they would more than likely be reopening Unit 2A. 

According to the post, that is the hospital’s name for the COVID-19 unit and will help give constant care around the clock for those patients. 

Ozarks Healthcare remains at an all-time-high number of COVID-19 patients in their hospital. 

Health officials are urging citizens to get the vaccine, saying it is the way out of this pandemic.
