A Fulton County man that was arrested in July for cattle theft is facing additional charges.

According to the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office, the department was contacted saying that there was an agreement between him and Steven Bashaw of Salem, AR to sell him an amount of livestock.

An unknown buyer arrived at the residence in Searcy County, loaded the cattle, and began to leave, but the seller chased him down.

The driver handed him multiple checks, but when taken to the bank, the seller learned they were fraudulent.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office discovered Bashaw had allegedly taken money from Fulton County residents to purchase the livestock.

Instead of using that money, he used fraudulent checks and reportedly sold them at an auction.

The victims from Fulton County paid $5,100 for the livestock, but they never received the product or had their money returned.

Bashaw was charged with 4 counts of forgery and one count of theft of property.

He posted a $15,000 bond from Searcy County and has a $5,000 bond for the Fulton County Charges.
