
In a school board meeting last night, it was decided that Mammoth Spring would not enact a mask mandate for the upcoming school year by a vote of 3-2.
After many concerned parents stood up and spoke to the board about the parents making decisions for their children, it was the ultimate decision to do so.
Superintendent Jennie Whisnant presented guidance the school had received from the state, and new data pertaining to COVID-19 in the district.
That’s when Mrs. Whisnant made her recommendation to the board.
And finally, the school board made their choice.
Mammoth Spring returned today to the classroom, without a mask mandate, but students and staff are strongly encouraged to wear a face-covering while inside.
Multiple weeks ago, the state of Arkansas did pass a law barring schools from mandating masks, but a judge temporarily blocked the law.
