The Missouri State Senate passed Senate Bill 756, a Senior Citizen Tax Credit introduced by Senator Tony Luetkemeyer on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

Senator Luetkemeyer’s bill is a modification of a pre-existing property tax credit for Senior Citizens.

The original bill was passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Parson in 2023, but it neglected to address certain professions who don’t receive Social Security benefits like teachers and firefighters.

SB 756 has been edited to include all senior citizens whether they receive Social Security benefits or not.

This will ensure that senior citizens on a limited income will see some slack with rising housing costs.
