Davidson suffered a broken leg and foot when a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Zachoria Henry of Melbourne crashed into his vehicle.  The pursuit which lasted almost an hour started south of Melbourne, then traveled through Melbourne, Zion, Sage, and near Sidney, then turned back to Mt Pleasant. Henry then turned onto Barren Fork Road which was blocked by Chief Davidson’s vehicle. Henry did not slow down so Chief Davidson got out of his vehicle and fired his shotgun at the vehicle. Henry hit the vehicle and the patrol vehicle then hit the deputy. Henry then fled on foot but was arrested a short time later and is being held in the Independence County detention Center without bond. The Arkansas State Police are investigating the incident.  Chief Deputy Steve Davidson underwent surgery to his left leg and foot Tuesday afternoon due to severe and serious breaks caused in Monday afternoon’s incident. The Sheriff’s Office reports he is doing as well as can be expected.
