National Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday and Police and Sheriff Departments across the nation will have locations for you to dispose of unwanted or no longer needed prescription drugs.  Thayer Police Department will be accepting old prescriptions from 10 till 2 at the police station.  Baxter County Sheriff’s Department will have two locations available Saturday also from 10 am till 2 pm.  One will be the parking lot across from Heartland Pharmacy at 200 East 7th St in Mtn Home-that is the old Arvest Bank parking lot and the second location will be on Main Street at the Big Flat Community Center.  National Take-Back Day provides an opportunity for the public to remove pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications from your home with the soul focus to help prevent the illegal use of those drugs and keeping them out of the hand of children that might think its candy. As it was reveled some time ago, it was found that flushing unwanted prescriptions down the toilet was not safe and it contaminates our waterways. So please dispose of your unwanted medications safely during National Take-Back Day.  No questions are asked. You can remove labels if you wish or place the medications in any kind of a disposable container or bag.
