Missouri Governor Mike Parson suggested Tuesday that some southwest health officials that are publicly discussing the increase in COVID-19 cases are wanting to find someone to blame and are trying to scare people into getting vaccinated.
Parson said that “Health Officials should try to encourage people to get vaccinated, but should not resort to trying to force people to take a vaccine or literally just scare them into taking a vaccine, because we know that isn’t how that works.”
Springfield health officials and hospital CEOs have been very vocal about getting the vaccine, saying their hospitals have been overrun by new cases, because of the delta variant.
Last week, Mercy Hospital System announced that it would require its employees at more than 40 hospitals to be vaccinated by late September.
Parson says no one is to blame except the virus itself.
